Elisabeth of Austria

   Born in Vienna, Elisabeth of Austria was the daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II and Maria of Spain. Elisabeth married King charles ix of France (1570) and played a minor role at the French court, returning to Austria upon her husband's death (1574).
